boutique del vino

Our Story

Vini selezionati. Storie autentiche.

Blick über die Rebberge des Monferrato bei Sonnenuntergang

It started with a holiday and our first glass of Barbera.

In 2016, we travelled to the hills of Monferrato, around Nizza Monferrato, for the first time.

We immediately fell in love with the landscape, the food and, above all, the warmth and openness of the people we met. Somewhere between long lunches, winding roads through the vineyards and our first glasses of local Barbera, we discovered a part of Italy we knew we wanted to return to.

Every year, we came back.

Over time, our holidays became less about discovering a new place and more about returning to one we already felt connected to. We got to know the locals, discovered small wineries and gradually became part of the local community.

In 2020, we took the next step. We bought an old barn and transformed it into a small holiday home, a place of our own where we could return more often and stay a little longer.

Getting to know the people behind the wine

Over the years, we discovered many remarkable wines and got to know the producers behind them. We spent afternoons and evenings in their cellars, tasting wines straight from the source and listening to their stories; about their families, their vineyards, the challenges of making wine and what makes their corner of Monferrato special.

Most of these wineries are small. They sell much of their wine to visitors to Monferrato and to restaurants in the surrounding area. Yet many of their wines remain largely undiscovered beyond Piemonte.

We started wondering how we could change that.

The idea for boutique del vino

One evening between Christmas and New Year in 2025, we were sitting in the cellar of a neighbouring producer. We were talking about wine, about Switzerland and about the many Swiss visitors who come to Monferrato, discover these wineries and fall in love with their wines, only to find that they cannot easily buy them once they return home.

That evening, the idea for boutique del vino was born.

Not as a traditional wine shop. And not with the ambition to become a large wine shop. Instead, we wanted to open the door to the Piemonte we know and make some of its small producers accessible to wine lovers in Switzerland.

The boutique del vino concept

We believe the best way to discover a wine is to discover where it comes from. A wine is shaped by its landscape, its vineyards and the people who make it. That is why we work with small producers we have personally visited and whose wines we have tasted in their own cellars.

We look for wines with character, authenticity and a strong sense of place, wines that tell you something about the people and landscape behind them.

We deliberately keep our selection small. We would rather know a few producers well than offer hundreds of bottles we have never encountered ourselves.

We want to keep our prices as close as possible to those you would pay in the producer’s cellar. That is why boutique del vino works differently from a traditional wine shop.

We organise planned imports on pre-announced dates, bringing together orders from different customers into carefully planned shipments from Piemonte to Switzerland.

This means that not every bottle is available immediately. But it allows us to work closely with small producers, avoid unnecessary stock and reduce unnecessary transport by consolidating each shipment.
